ABOUT US
Lyn's Pet Posse was founded in April of 2013, by me, Lyn Pletcher. After being in the food service business for over 25 years, and working for food brokers and a specialty product company, selling to hospitals, schools, correctional facilities, nursing homes and anyone else that had a need for our products, I contemplated a change. Although I loved my customers and helping them, things were changing quickly due to the new nutrition guidelines in healthcare and schools, and I felt it was time to make a change.
I've always had a love for animals, hence our current 10 rescue dogs, 5 rescue cats, 2 alpaca's, 1 donkey and 1 quaker parrot. They each have their own unique stories and tales of how they warmed our hearts and ended up part of our family. My husband, Scott, and I have been aiding rescue organizations, or should I say they have been aiding us, helping to find good homes and placements for the dogs that seem to get dumped off or are lost and need a good home. I don't know how people can be so cruel to just dump a pet, especially a blind one, and not think twice about it. So sad!! We work with various rescue organizations helping pets find their forever homes.
I always wanted to have a career that had to do with animals. I just could not put my finger on what would be a good match for me. One day, while standing in the kitchen, my husband said to me, "Why don't you start your own pet sitting business?" His words resonated right down to my soul and I instantly knew that is what I wanted to do. I immediately searched the internet for information and talked to many people about my idea. I found Pet Sitters International and joined. I also joined a networking group, called COPPS (Central Ohio Professional Pet Sitters), where we all help each other, learn new ideas and receive training. Even though I am confident in my abilities, I wanted to gain all the knowledge I could, so I took pet first aid classes. I purchased insurance and bonding and took a grueling certification course and passed the 400 question exam with a 98% (yes, I am proud of that)
I keep on learning, and regularly listen to webinars, take classes, and attend conferences, to keep up my certification. I love every minute of it. I meet the most wonderful people and their pets and am thankful every day. I get excited to see my new found friends, some with fur, some with fiber, some with feathers and some with scales, shells and just plain skin.
My mission is to gain more and more knowledge, provide the best professional and personal care for pets by observing changes in behavior and/or health, keeping pets calm in/at their own homes when their owners can't be there, to make life easier and ease the worry for owners when they have to leave their pets, and to simply love them.
